DYNAMIC ACOUSTIC PROPERTIES OF PAKISTANI ENGLISH: A DESCRIPTION OF FORMANT VARIATIONS OF F1 & F2 PRODUCED BY PAKISTANI SPEAKERS

چکیده
The current study explores the variations of formant frequency English vowels produced by eighty students BS and language at NUML International Islamic University Islamabad. research defines acoustic monophthongal under influence gender four standard regional varieties Pakistan presents a macro-level description Monophthongs Pakistani English. respondents belong to Balochi, Pushto, Punjabi, Sindhi languages. This among these speakers through lenses ‘Formant Frequency Model’ (Lindblom, 1979). For this purpose, poem entitled, “The North Wind Sun” has been used collect required data. values have extracted from PRAAT, software presented (Boersma & Weenink, 2019). manually data PRAAT were analyzed via statistical tools SPSS ANOVA. findings disclose that are related unclear realization sounds like /ə / /ʌ/, paucity in realizing vowel pairs English, identical articulation /ɒ/ /ͻ:/ groups. would contribute phonological system which is an Asian- variety Outer-Circle. assist teachers teach pronunciation with acoustic-phonetic perspective.
